Not sure what to make of it yet - need to see a close-up.

  1. I'm not a professional cake decorator by any means but I have done several and cannot understand why it took 5 weeks to do the Royal Wedding cake. Wouldn't it have been stale by the time of the wedding?

  2. Hi KatherineElaine,
    most 'modern' wedding cakes have at least one sponge tier, rather than the traditional fruit cake. The Royal wedding cake was all fruit so the shelf life wasa lot longer - I'm about to cut into a fruit cake that I made at the end of 2010 and I'm expecting it to be fine.
