Patterned Pastes

Some of you may have seen the patterned paste letters I made for cakes for the Cheltenham and Gloucester Expo and Cake at the NEC.  I promised to do a set of tutorials showing the basic techniques and here they are:

Stripes

Checkerboard

Swirls

And in case you've not yet seen the finished product...

I hope you have a go and please, feel free to share your finished pieces and the links to the tutorials.

  3. Aah, but like everything else, without that insider knowledge, would you ever have given it a go?

  4. Loved how they came out. For the "Y" did you just roll small dots into yellow fondant, then cut? It seems like it would be that simple LOL! But thought I would ask.

  5. Hi Cinjam,

With hindsight, I should have justrolled them onto the yellow. But I didn't. I cut small holes with a piping nozzle and filled them with the other coloured pastes. You live and learn :O) Please post your creations on my FB page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kathryns-Cakes/106747242683985
